Terry Gerton is currently the host of the Federal Drive at Federal News Network, bringing decades of federal leadership experience to her work. She recently concluded eight years as president and CEO of the National Academy of Public Administration, where she led the congressionally chartered, nonpartisan organization in advancing more effective, efficient and accountable government. A former senior executive service member and political appointee, Terry served nearly 12 years in senior roles at the Departments of Labor and Defense, directing programs in budgeting, organizational performance, policy development and veteran employment. Her contributions earned both the Distinguished and Meritorious Presidential Rank Awards, as well as the Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service and the National Public Service Award.
Her 20-year Army career included command, operational and academic assignments, including service as executive officer of the Army’s largest battalion at Fort Cavazos and as a professor of Economics at West Point. She is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and holds an MBA from Duke University. Her Management Matters podcast has earned multiple Telly Awards.
